As a beginning farmer, skills and resources may still be in the growth phase. As dairy farmers gain more experience over the years, their skills grow and develop. Resources will become more readily available and accessible. Even though one can be a successful dairy farmer on their own, there is one free asset that can help their farm grow and develop-Minnesota Dairy Initiative.
Minnesota Dairy Initiative (MDI) is a free program for Minnesota dairy farmers. This program is especially beneficial for new and emerging dairy farmers, as it creates a team atmosphere for success. MDI works with individual dairy farms to create a custom fit, on-farm team that will help the farmer reach their goals and strive for success. Each team is made up of industry experts that will provide ample amounts of knowledge and resources. Surrounding yourself with industry experts, and those with years of knowledge, is a no brainer decision.
MDI continues to serve a vital role on all dairy farms, not just new and beginning farmers. MDI helps farmers plan for the future, solve problems, and work through transitions. MDI coordinators have recently gone through a strategic planning training and are excited to offer these services to their farms. Strategic planning can serve as the ultimate step from great to excellent. We are excited to see farms really thrive with this sort of planning.
No matter what stage of farming you are in, MDI can serve a vital role on your farm and set your farm up for success for generations to come.
