Minnesota Dairy Initiative is partnering with UMN Extension, MN Department of Agriculture and the Northwest Minnesota Foundation to provide two, free evening events for farming couples in Minnesota. The events are scheduled for Friday, November 17th in Thief River Falls and Saturday, November 18th in Mahnomen. Both events will begin at 6pm and last roughly three hours.
The events are designed to give farming couples a relaxing night off of the farm where they have the chance to reconnect with their spouse, mingle with other farming couples, and gain some knowledge that will benefit them in their relationship. The evening will feature education provided by Monica McConkey, Rural Mental Health Specialist as well as Emily Krekelberg, UMN Farm Safety & Health Extension Educator. Included in the evening will be a nice dinner and time to socialize.
Minnesota Dairy Initiative realizes that farming couples are busy and don’t always have time to prioritize their relationships. These events are meant to help farmers spend some time together and focus on their mental well-being. The events are sponsored by a grant through the Northwest Minnesota Foundation, therefore the events are open to ALL types of farming couples (dairy, beef, crop, swine, etc.).
