MDI coordinators have been busy the last few months with various events, workshops, and team meetings. Coordinators have been involved in Planning Your Dairy Farm Future classes as well as Producer Night Out Events and conferences.
Some of the highlights from the winter include great conversations at Central Plains Dairy Expo, Carver County Dairy and Beef Expo, First District Association Annual Conference, and MN All-Breeds Convention. At all of these events MDI was able to have a booth and share about the program with prospective farmers.
Various Producer Night Out and other educational events were held. Some of the highlights include a great turnout of 76 individuals at the Women in Dairy event held at the Crow River Winery. This year’s topic was “Five Forms of Communication” presented by Kristy Pagel, of Leading Edge Consulting, LLC. Attendees enjoyed learning skills that they can take back and utilize on their farms. Additionally, MDI and SFA worked in partnership to host a workshop in Alexandria with the topic of “Forages and Grazing for Improving Farm Resiliency”. The event featured a panel of farmers and grazing experts.
Producer Night Out events covered topics including dairy herd size and the relation to future profitability, DRP & LGM, stocking density, farm finances, and lameness and hoof health. As always, these events provided for educational discussion as well as comradery between dairy producers. Aside from events, MDI coordinators has been busy doing what they do best; facilitating on-farm team meetings. Teams are working hard to help farmers be as successful as possible and meet their goals.
As always, if you aren’t already enrolled in MDI, give us a call! We would love to work with you.
