MDI has had a busy summer of events, team meetings, and networking. As summer comes to an end MDI looks forward to the Minnesota State Fair as well as a safe and bountiful harvest season.
Early August provided opportunity for some wonderful educational events. MDI in partnership with the Midwest Forage Association and the Southeast Minnesota Forage Council hosted the SE Forage Field Day and Dairy Tour at Hyde Park Holsteins in Zumbro Falls, MN. Attendees were able to learn about overcoming diseases challenging alfalfa, alfalfa and corn silage management considerations, and were able to participate in a field walk viewing HarvXtra alfalfa that was planted in the fall of 2024. In the afternoon participants were able to view the farms sand separation lane.
Pictured on the right are MDI coordinators Dale Heintz and Makenzie Alberts at Winona County Night on the Farm. This was hosted at Clark Farms. Dale and Makenzie were able to share about the MDI program with numerous famers and dairy industry professionals
During the middle of August MDI participated in our partner, MN Milk’s annual golf tournament. MDI staff were able to network with dairy farmers and industry professionals that were able to spend the day golfing. It was a great opportunity to share about the MDI program with farmers that haven’t previously enrolled in our program.
As fall nears we wish the best of luck to all of those exhibiting dairy cattle at the MN State Fair, whether it be for the 4-H, FFA or open class shows. MDI hopes that those attending the state fair can foster conversations with consumers as well and help promote our wonderful industry!
